I provide long distance support for my 73 year old brother. He recently had an in-patient cardiac procedure and inadvertently missed his first follow-up appointment. For my peace of mind, I wanted someone to accompany him to the rescheduled doctor's appointment and if possible, arrange for me to participate in the appointment via speaker phone. Thanks to one of my brother's neighbors, I stumbled upon A Place at Home. I am deeply grateful and appreciative of Casey's professionalism, thoughfulness, organization and kindness. By listening in during the office visit, I gained a better understanding of my brother's cardiac condition and learned about appropriate next steps. I am a hospital case manager in the northwest suburbs, and I recently referred a difficult discharge case to A Place At Home – Schaumburg. The patient lived alone in Elk Grove Village, had limited mobility, and needed reliable support at home quickly. Casey and his team responded right away. They were professional, thoughtful, and took the time to understand the patient’s real needs instead of treating it like a routine placement. Care started quickly, and their communication throughout the transition was excellent. A few weeks later, the patient called me to say he felt safe at home for the first time in months. He was eating better, sleeping better, and said the caregivers felt like family. I wish I had called them sooner. A Place At Home – Schaumburg is now on my trusted referral list for families who need dependable non-medical home care after discharge. Five stars are not enough. My mother had a total knee replacement and some sudden visual loss and we were in need of a caregiver for her when I had to return to work. I contacted A Place At Home and spoke with Casey. He was able to arrange a caregiver with very little notice to help with my mom. Casey and the caregiver Tiffany came the day before her start date to meet my mom and my family. They spent time getting to know what her needs were and her routine. They made the process very easy. A few days later I was also contacted by Casey to make sure all our needs were being taken care of and if we had any issues. Tiffany was outstanding, she made my mom feel like she was being taken care of by a family member. She was very understanding to my mom's needs and provided her with excellent care from dressing, helping her eat and walking with her along with doing her exercises. My mom said the day went by so fast because she enjoyed spending time with Tiffany. I would highly recommend A Place At Home for any caregiving service. ~ Mary Y

Casey and the team provided excellent service and on short notice. This was the second time in a year we have needed his assistance. Casey's years of experience helped our family understand, select and prepare for the needs of my older brother. Caregivers were well trained, attentive and friendly. For a short time we needed 24 hour per day care and then just 10 hours per day care. My brother is healthier now. Should we need home assistance again, we will call. ~ Kevin g

A Place at Home was a godsend to have help us with a family member’s stroke. We needed 24 hour care for several weeks. Casey met with us at the hospital and at the home to make sure they understood the needs of my family member. When the time came to come home, the care givers were there ahead of time. Casey and the caregivers who have assisted my mother these past several months have been such a blessing to her and our family! They are caring, compassionate, and have provided my mother excellent care! Casey has been extremely responsive; a few times we needed extra help at short notice and Casey came through for us. The caregivers are provided hands-on training by both Casey and Neelima, a physical therapist and occupational therapist respectively. During a very challenging season of my mother and family’s life, A Place At Home has relieved us of much stress, and given us a peace of mind knowing my mother is in good hands. We have learned in our experience, that the more you share with the caregiving team about your loved one, their: personality, family history, past work, hobby’s, past medical history, current challenges, and what they are able to participate in now and enjoy,….the more you empower the caregiving team to provide a meaningful care experience. My mother was resistant initially to have a caregiver come into her home to assist her, and now she looks forward to their visits! We have been very happy with our caregiver. He is wonderful with my husband, who really enjoys having him here. He takes good care of him but also acts more like a friend than a caregiver, which is very important since he doesn’t want to be “watched”.
